Position: Operations Analyst
Location: Jersey City, NJ
Type: Contract
Rate: $34/hr to 39/hr
Overview:
The primary function of this role is to process trade finance-related transactions and provide technical assistance regarding trade finance products, including documentary (commercial) letters of credit, standby letters of credit, documentary collections, and guarantees. This position ensures compliance with Federal and International Laws and conventions while supporting internal teams and external clients.
Responsibilities:
Transaction Processing: Handle the issuance, advising, confirming, and maintenance of standby and documentary letters of credit and guarantees.
Document Review: Examine default drawing and direct pay presentations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Client Support: Manage written correspondence and verbal communications to resolve technical matters related to trade finance products.
Fee Management: Calculate and track fees and commissions for trade finance transactions.
Drafting & Redlining: Draft and refine technical terms and conditions for standby letters of credit, guarantees, and documentary letters of credit.
Compliance: Review transactions for regulatory compliance, including anti-boycott violations and adherence to guidelines.
Problem-Solving: Resolve disputes and issues related to letter of credit construction and execution.
Administration: Perform maintenance of letter of credit files and complete inquiries in a timely manner.
Training & Knowledge: Stay updated on trade finance guidelines, regulatory/legal requirements, and participate in training programs.
Ad-Hoc Tasks: Support additional tasks as directed by team leadership.
Minimum required qualifications:
- 5–7 years of experience with standby letters of credit and technical knowledge of UCP 600, ISP98, and UCC Article 5.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with AML, OFAC, and U.S. anti-boycott regulations.
- Knowledge of bank accounting related to trade finance products.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience with standby and documentary letters of credit, with superior knowledge of UCP 600, ISP98, and UCC Article 5.
- Exposure to automated letter of credit processing environments.
- Strong understanding of AML and OFAC compliance regulations.
- Proficiency in drafting technical letter of credit terms and conditions for both standby and documentary credits.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
